Jose L. Piedra Petit Caballeros (3 Sticks per Box)

When Habanos S.A. reclassified José L. Piedra as a Global brand in 2007, it was a quiet acknowledgement of something the brand had always known: that Remedios tobacco, grown in Villa Clara's central plains rather than Pinar del Río's celebrated red colorado soils, could build a loyal international following on its own uncompromising terms. The Petit Caballeros — a 48-ring-gauge, 120 mm vitola added to the portfolio only in 2019 — is the newest and widest format in the line, designed to open the blend's fuller character at a shorter smoke time.

All filler, binder, and wrapper originate exclusively from the Vuelta Arriba / Remedios sub-region, a growing zone whose less-celebrated soils yield leaf with a stronger, more tannic, and more rustic character than the silkier output of Vuelta Abajo. This is not a compromise — it is the brand's founding identity. Construction is Totalmente a Mano, Tripa Corta: short-filler pieces bunched and wrapped entirely by hand, a method abandoned by virtually every other premium Habanos marque. The result is a medium-to-full strength profile with pronounced leather, cocoa, raw wood, and pepper — texturally denser and more immediate than long-filler peers at any price point.

José L. Piedra has never produced a single Edición Limitada or Edición Regional, yet held 9.3% of total Habanos export share by 2001. The Petit Caballeros is presented in a display box of 15, untubed and cellophane-wrapped.
