Tobacco originates exclusively from Vuelta Abajo, Pinar del Río — a Habanos Protected Appellation of Origin — where red colorado clay-rich soils, warm humid microclimate, and reliable trade winds yield leaves with an optimal balance of strength, aroma, and combustibility. Post-harvest leaves undergo air-curing for 25–50 days in ventilated barns, followed by bulk fermentation in pilones at 40–50°C for 15–90 days to reduce ammonia and develop aromatic complexity. The special feature here is format transgression: Romeo y Julieta deploys its all-Cuban Vuelta Abajo blend identity — cedar, almond, citrus, subtle chocolate — into a machine-made petit format that no other Habanos house matches in breadth of size offering.
