Chateau Montelena is a cornerstone of Napa Valley history, established in 1882 by Alfred Tubbs, who built the iconic stone chateau at the base of Mount Saint Helena. After surviving Prohibition, the estate was revitalized in 1972 by the Barrett family. The winery achieved legendary status in 1976 when its 1973 Chardonnay triumphed at the historic Judgment of Paris tasting, a victory that placed California at the forefront of the global wine world. This legacy of excellence continues today under the leadership of Bo Barrett, maintaining the estate’s reputation as a quality icon through an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and tradition.
