Xanadu's Circa77 Chardonnay originates from Margaret River's gravelly, north-facing vineyard blocks—terrain shaped by Quaternary alluvial deposits and moderated by Indian Ocean breezes that extend ripening into autumn. The wine undergoes barrel fermentation in French oak, followed by extended lees aging that builds textural complexity without heavy oak overlay. This production approach—favoring slow fermentation and sur-lie contact over malolactic conversion—preserves the site's mineral spine while developing secondary aromatics. The result is a medium-bodied expression that balances stone fruit intensity with saline minerality, drinking well from release through 5–7 years of bottle age.
