Famille Masse Rully 1er Cru Les Deux Terres
฿฿
Premier Cru.
Rully's eastern exposure has long produced Chardonnay of unusual precision—Les Deux Terres sits on the Jurassic limestone and clay soils that define the appellation's 1er Cru tier, at 280–320 meters elevation where morning fog burns off by mid-morning, concentrating ripeness without overextraction.
Domaine Masse employs temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, preserving the site's mineral signature, followed by partial malolactic conversion and 12 months on fine lees in neutral oak—a restraint that allows limestone minerality to dominate rather than oak spice. The result is a wine where chalk dust and wet stone form the backbone, not an afterthought.
What distinguishes this cuvée: the two-parcel blend (hence "Deux Terres") marries slightly different exposures within the climat, creating textural complexity without sacrificing the linear, almost austere character Rully demands. Drink 2024–2032 as the wine's structure tightens and secondary flavors emerge.
