The Cattier family has worked Premier Cru hillsides around Chigny-les-Roses since 1763, but it was a deliberate structural transgression — insisting that every release blend exactly three distinct harvest years at equal weight, rather than the industry-standard dominant base year topped with reserve wines — that defined Armand de Brignac when Jean-Jacques Cattier launched the brand in 2006. That decision is not cosmetic; it forces each assemblage to stand as a considered, equal-parts argument across three growing seasons.

Fruit originates from 33 hectares of Premier Cru chalk-and-clay hillside vineyards across Rilly-la-Montagne, Chigny-les-Roses, and Ludes on the Montagne de Reims — cool northern aspect that slows ripening and sharpens acidity in the Pinot Noir — supplemented by Grand Cru Chardonnay from Avize, Cramant, and Oger on the Côte des Blancs. The Brut Gold blend runs 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier.

Grapes are pressed in traditional vertical Coquard presses, with only the first tête de cuvée fraction selected. Base wines are vinified in concrete tanks to build texture. The cuvée then ages a minimum three years on lees in a dedicated gated section of the Cattier cellars — descending over 30 metres underground, among the deepest chalk galleries in Champagne — before traditional hand riddling over approximately one month. The defining technical signature: the dosage liqueur itself is aged one full year in new French oak barrels before addition at disgorgement at 9 g/L, layering toasted brioche and vanilla complexity that no standard NV dosage protocol delivers. Annual production is capped at roughly 60,000 bottles, each hand-metallised and hand-labelled with French pewter.
