Tasca d'Almerita Tascante Contrada Pianodario
฿2,700
Tasca d'Almerita is a historic pillar of Sicilian winemaking, with a legacy spanning eight generations since the purchase of the Regaleali estate in 1830. Long recognized as a pioneer in elevating Sicily’s reputation from bulk production to world-class quality, the family expanded its vision in 2007 to the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna with the Tascante project. This endeavor focuses on expressing the distinct personalities of individual contrade, or districts, which serve as the volcanic equivalent of Burgundian crus. The Pianodario vineyard, located on the northern slope of Europe’s most active volcano at approximately 775 meters, sits atop ancient volcanic soils dating back nearly 40,000 years, offering a singular geologic depth to the vines.
The winemaking philosophy at Tenuta Tascante is defined by a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and terroir transparency. As a certified B Corp and a recipient of the Robert Parker Green Emblem, the family prioritizes manual labor and organic methods to safeguard the delicate mountain ecosystem for future generations. For the Contrada Pianodario, the focus is on the Nerello Mascalese grape, which interacts with the high-altitude climate and mineral-rich lava soils to produce a wine of exceptional elegance and restraint. By balancing traditional practices with modern precision, the family crafts a refined red wine characterized by silky tannins, floral aromatics, and a persistent volcanic minerality that reflects the soul of the "Muntagna."
