Clerico Barbera D'Alba Trevigne
฿1,400
The Domenico Clerico estate was established in 1976 when Domenico took over his father’s small farm in Monforte d’Alba. A leading figure among the revolutionary Barolo Boys, Clerico transitioned from selling grapes to estate-bottling his own wines, pioneering the concept of single-cru Barolos. Today, the estate spans 21 hectares of prime vineyards across renowned crus like Ginestra, Pajana, Mosconi, and Bussia. Following Domenico’s passing in 2017, the winery continues to be managed by his wife Giuliana and winemaker Oscar Arrivabene, who uphold his legacy of innovation and deep respect for the land of the Langhe.
The Trevigne Barbera d’Alba is crafted from fruit sourced from three distinct vineyard sites within the high-altitude Ginestra and Bricco San Pietro MGAs. The estate’s philosophy centers on the belief that vine quality is the primary factor in wine potential, focusing on terroir-driven expressions. In the cellar, this wine undergoes maceration for 10 to 14 days and is aged for approximately 16 months in a combination of French oak barriques and larger 50hL barrels. This balanced approach to oak maturation results in a structured yet vibrant Barbera that captures the fresh red fruit character and mineral complexity of its Piedmontese origin.
