Pelissero Barbaresco Vanotu DOCG
฿4,400
Pelissero is a historic family-owned estate in the Langhe hills of Piedmont, currently led by third-generation winemaker Giorgio Pelissero. Established in 1957, the winery is rooted in the timeless traditions of the region, focusing exclusively on native varieties like Nebbiolo. The Vanotu vineyard, established in 1960 and replanted in 1964 by Giorgio’s father Luigi, is the estate’s most prestigious site. Its name is a Piedmontese dialect diminutive of Giovanni, Giorgio’s grandfather and the original owner of the land. This deep family connection underpins a philosophy of humility and service to the land, ensuring that every bottle serves as an ambassador for the unique heritage of Treiso.
The terroir of the Vanotu vineyard is exceptional, situated at the meeting point of Treiso, Barbaresco, and Neive. At an altitude of 300 to 350 meters, the south-facing slopes feature limestone-rich soils that impart a distinct mineral tension and elegant structure to the Nebbiolo grapes. Pelissero’s winemaking philosophy blends these traditional roots with innovative modern techniques, including controlled-temperature fermentation and a selection of indigenous natural yeasts. The Vanotu DOCG is matured for approximately 20 to 22 months in French oak barriques followed by 9 months in the bottle, a process designed to harmonize the natural austerity of Nebbiolo with a velvety, concentrated fruit profile and soft tannic complexity.
