Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
฿฿฿
Xanadu's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon originates from Margaret River, Western Australia's premier cool-climate Cabernet region, where gravelly soils over clay substructure and maritime influence from the Indian Ocean create ideal ripening conditions for Vitis vinifera. The vineyard sites sit at moderate elevation with north-facing aspect, moderating summer heat and extending phenolic maturity.
The Reserve designation signals extended skin contact during fermentation and aging in French oak—a portion new—for 18–24 months prior to release. This technique builds the wine's structural complexity while preserving varietal character rather than imposing oak dominance. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barrel, softening acidity while integrating oak tannins.
This expression distinguishes itself through restraint: Margaret River Cabernets often veer toward ripe fruit; Xanadu's Reserve maintains tension between dark berry concentration and mineral-driven acidity, a signature of the producer's philosophy toward age-worthiness over immediate opulence.
Current vintage displays cassis, dried plum, and graphite minerality with fine-grained tannin structure. Drinking window extends 8–15 years from vintage.
