When Claude Dugat's children — Bertrand, Laetitia, and Jeanne — established La Gibryotte as a micro-négociant, they made one deliberate choice: apply the full Dugat house discipline to sourced fruit, including the family's defining rule of harvesting by palate rather than laboratory analysis. The result is a Premier Cru that carries the same philosophical DNA as the allocation-only domaine wines, at a fraction of the access barrier.

The 1er Cru blend draws from two contrasting parcels: Craipillot, with its flat terrain and limestone-rich, stone-studded scree, and La Perrière, a former quarry site positioned just east and downslope from the Grand Cru belt in close proximity to Clos de Bèze — soils that impose mineral tension and structural precision on the Pinot Noir.

100% destemmed fruit ferments in concrete tanks with twice-daily punch-downs and zero pump-overs, limiting oxygen ingress and preserving aromatic purity. After roughly two weeks on skins, the wine ages 15–18 months in François Frères barrels at approximately 75% new French oak, in a semi-underground historic cellar, then a cooler secondary cellar. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with no chaptalization, no acidification, and minimal sulfur.

The transgression here is categorical: in an appellation celebrated for muscular extraction, the Dugat approach — concrete fermentation, no pump-overs, complete destemming — consistently produces Gevrey of aristocratic finesse over power. The 2022 vintage, warm and dry across the Côte de Nuits, delivers ripe, clean fruit with natural energy and good underlying structure; approachable on release but built to develop over the medium term.
