Family Cellars Ornbaun Syrah 2012

We love this cool climate blend of mostly Syrah with 16% Zinfandel and 4% Viognier. It hails from two epic vineyards in the Mendocino Ridge AVA, the Perli and the Valenti vineyards.  It has lovely blackberry, dark chocolate, crushed black pepper and carpaccio.  The Ornbaun soil series is one of several oceanic soil types that run through this appellation.  A concentrated yet elegant wine that will pair  beautifully with roasted duck or spring lamb.
