Cono Sur Single Vineyard Pinot Noir

−12%Cono Sur was founded in 1993 with a single audacious mandate: make Chile's first world-class Pinot Noir. The Single Vineyard expression draws from Fundo El Triángulo in Casablanca Valley, where vines planted in 1989 root into red clay, sand, and granitic soils shaped by Humboldt Current fog and cool coastal breezes — conditions that compress the ripening window and preserve natural acidity in a way warmer Chilean valleys cannot replicate.
Vinification follows Burgundian discipline: cold maceration for colour and aromatic extraction, followed by foot-treading and manual pigeage in small open tanks — human energy deliberately chosen over mechanical pump-overs to avoid over-extraction of tannin from Pinot's thin skins. Aging proceeds in French oak at a duration and new-oak percentage calibrated to the single-vineyard tier, preserving site transparency over wood imprint.
What separates this from peers is the vine age: El Triángulo's 1989 plantings are among the oldest Pinot Noir blocks in Casablanca, predating the valley's commercial reputation, delivering concentration and root depth that younger sites in the appellation cannot match. The current vintage delivers taut red-fruit character and saline mineral tension characteristic of cool Casablanca seasons, drinking well now through four to six years.
