DB Family Selection Rose
฿
De Bortoli has been farming the Riverina since 1928, when Vittorio De Bortoli planted vines in the flat, sun-drenched Murray-Darling basin of New South Wales. The DB Family Selection range is the winery's entry-level expression, designed to deliver consistent, approachable drinking at volume — a deliberate commercial choice that keeps the family name on everyday tables across Australia and export markets alike.
Riverina's alluvial sandy-loam soils over clay retain irrigation water efficiently, and the region's hot continental climate pushes rapid sugar accumulation. For a rosé, this means fruit is harvested early to preserve acidity before heat strips it away. The wine is made via short cold maceration on the skins to extract pale salmon colour and primary red-fruit character, followed by cool-temperature fermentation in stainless steel to lock in freshness. No oak contact is used, and the wine is bottled early to preserve aromatic lift.
What distinguishes this expression within its price tier is the Riverina's ability to deliver ripe, generous fruit at low cost — a function of scale and sunshine that few cool-climate regions can match at ฿599. Drink within 12–18 months of vintage for peak primary fruit character.
