Johnnie Walker Blue Label Elusive Umami (750 ml)
฿15,999
When John Walker opened his Kilmarnock grocery in 1820, his tea-trade instinct — that blending across origins eliminates batch variance — became the founding logic of an entire whisky category. Two centuries later, Dr. Emma Walker, the first woman to hold the master blender title in the brand's history, applied that same principle to a deliberate sensory brief: isolate and amplify the savory, glutamate-rich register that Scotch whisky shares with aged proteins and fermented foods. The result is Blue Label Elusive Umami, assembled from hand-selected casks that qualify under Blue Label's strict 1-in-10,000 threshold — the most restrictive selection rate in the standard Johnnie Walker range. The blend draws on the house's four-pillar architecture: Cardhu (Speyside) for honeyed grain sweetness, Caol Ila (Islay) for clean maritime smoke, Clynelish (Highland) for waxy coastal depth, and Glenkinchie (Lowland) for floral lift — but cask selection here skews toward barrels that have developed pronounced meaty, brothy, and dried-mushroom character through extended ex-bourbon and ex-Sherry oak contact. Bottled at 40% ABV, chill-filtered, non-vintage. What distinguishes this expression within the Blue Label family is its explicit flavor-concept brief — a commercial blended Scotch engineered around a single taste sensation (umami) rather than a regional or age profile, a structural transgression for the category.
