The 2018 Midnight Edition applies that logic to casks aged a minimum of 28 years, hand-selected from Diageo's reserve of approximately 10 million casks by master blender Dr. Emma Walker's team, the first woman to hold that role in the brand's 200-year history.

The blend draws from Diageo's pan-Scotland distillery network: Clynelish (Highland coastal wax), Caol Ila (Islay clean maritime peat), and Cardhu (Speyside honeyed fruit) form the structural spine — a combination architecturally impossible for any single-region producer to replicate. Maturation in ex-bourbon American oak and ex-Sherry European oak casks over nearly three decades deepens the waxy, dried-fruit, and smoke registers that define the Midnight character.
