Nikka Super Nikka (700 ml)

When Masataka Taketsuru founded Dai Nippon Kaju Co., Ltd. in 1934 at the base of the Shakotan Peninsula, he chose Yoichi specifically because its cool, fog-laden Sea of Japan microclimate and peat-rich Ishikari Plain mirrored the Scottish Highlands he had trained in — a deliberate act of terroir transplantation that no other Japanese producer attempted at the same scale.

Yoichi's snowmelt water from the Yoichi River feeds direct coal-fired pot stills with downward lyne arms — one of the last distilleries on earth to retain this labour-intensive method — which suppresses reflux and retains heavy congeners, producing a dense, maritime malt. This is married with lighter spirit from Miyagikyo's steam-heated stills and Coffey continuous still grain whisky (corn-dominant, distilled on Glasgow-built Blairs stills transferred from the Nishinomiya plant), adding a creamy, sweet counterweight.

Super Nikka is a blended whisky drawing on Nikka's proprietary full-palette system — the only major Japanese producer legally compelled to build opposing flavour profiles in-house, since Japanese regulations prohibit inter-group distillate exchange. The result is a blend with structural range that most Japanese houses cannot replicate without external sourcing.

As a NV expression, Super Nikka is built for consistency across releases; no vintage character data is applicable, and the drinking window is open now.
