Compass Box Hedonism (700 ml)
฿10,699
When John Glaser launched Compass Box in 2000, Hedonism was the opening statement — the world's first whisky marketed explicitly as a premium blended grain Scotch, a category the industry had long dismissed as filler. That transgression was the point. Cameronbridge distillery in the Lowlands supplies the dominant grain component, its continuous column-still distillate producing a naturally high-ester, creamy spirit that forms the structural spine of the blend. Multiple single-grain parcels — typically three to seven per release — are assembled from first-fill American oak barrels and antique sherry casks, with component ages averaging approximately 23 years. Extended maturation in first-fill wood at that age coaxes deep vanilla, butterscotch, and dried coconut from the grain without the tannin load that would overwhelm its inherently lighter texture. Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill-filtered, with no added colouring, the whisky retains the natural viscosity and pale-gold hue that chill-filtration would strip away. What no peer in blended grain does: Compass Box publishes the component distillery names and cask types on its website, a transparency practice it fought the Scotch Whisky Association to defend in 2015. Non-vintage by design; drinking window is open now and holds well for a decade.
