Old Malt Cask Miltonduff 18 Years (700 ml)
฿8,019
When the Laing family divided their independent bottling assets in 2013, Stewart Laing took the Old Malt Cask range to Hunter Laing & Co. with one founding principle intact: every cask bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill-filtered, zero caramel colouring — a deliberate departure from the cask-strength orthodoxy of peers like Cadenhead's or Signatory. Miltonduff sits in the Pluscarden Valley south of Elgin, its distillery drawing from the Burn of Pluscarden and maturing spirit in warehouses set on the valley floor, where the relatively sheltered, low-elevation microclimate encourages a slow, orchard-fruit-forward development in wood. This 18-year-old expression matured in a single refill cask — cask type, distillation year, and cask number printed on the label — with no secondary finishing applied, a house rule for the OMC range. Hunter Laing's monthly tasting panel selected this individual cask from stock; once exhausted, the expression cannot be replicated. The standardised 50% ABV bottling strength is the range's transgression: it sacrifices raw cask intensity for a calibrated openness that lets Miltonduff's characteristic waxy, stone-fruit character resolve without dilution masking the wood integration. Drink now through the next five to eight years; the refill cask regime keeps oak secondary to distillery character at this age.
