Provenance Auchroisk 10 Years (Speyside) (700 ml)
฿3,739
Douglas Laing & Co., founded in Glasgow in 1948, built its Provenance range as a deliberate counter to the opacity of blended Scotch — every label prints the source distillery, cask number, cask type, and exact distillation and bottling dates, a level of disclosure rare even among independent bottlers. Auchroisk sits in the heart of Speyside, drawing from the River Mulben, a tributary of the Spey, with the distillery's relatively modern infrastructure (built 1974) producing a characteristically fruity, malt-forward new make that rewards time in refill wood. This 10-year-old expression rests in a single refill hogshead — ex-bourbon cooperage — which allows the distillery's orchard-fruit and cereal character to speak without the interference of active oak tannin or sulphur from sherry wood. Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill-filtered, with no added colouring, the yield is capped at the output of that one cask — typically 300–850 bottles, never repeated. What sets this apart within the Provenance range is Auchroisk's relative obscurity as a single malt: the distillery's output is largely absorbed into Diageo's J&B blend, making any single cask release a genuinely rare window into a workhorse malt on its own terms. At 10 years, the spirit sits at the younger edge of Speyside convention, preserving the waxy, grain-forward texture that longer maturation would soften into anonymity.
