Absolut Vodka (4.5 L)

Lars Olsson Smith distilled his first Absolut Rent Brännvin in 1879, and the philosophy of purity-through-precision rather than purity-through-filtration has defined the house ever since. Every bottle of Absolut originates from a single postcode: Destilleriet i Åhus, on the flat coastal plain of Skåne, where the Baltic Sea moderates the climate and the fertile southern Swedish soils yield winter wheat at roughly twice the global average per hectare. Approximately 400 farms within the surrounding Skåne region supply 100% Triticum aestivum winter wheat — around 125,000 tonnes annually — while process water is drawn from the distillery's own wells sunk more than 140 metres into Swedish bedrock, filtered over millennia before it reaches the still.

Production runs through a continuous multi-column rectification system: a mash column strips the fermented wash (9–10% ABV, ~48-hour fermentation with proprietary cultivated yeast) to ~35% ABV; a stainless-steel rectification column fitted with copper-packet packing for sulphur catalysation brings spirit to ~85% ABV; an extraction column removes aldehydes; twin 26-metre final rectification columns — split low to comply with local airport height restrictions — refine to ~96% ABV. The spirit is then diluted to 40% ABV with no charcoal or chemical filtration applied, and no sugar, glycerin, or additives are added. That deliberate omission of post-distillation filtration is the technical transgression that separates Absolut from most large-volume peers: the wheat's natural cereal texture survives intact. This 4.5-litre format delivers the same single-source, single-distillery liquid — every bottle of Absolut sold globally traceable to one aquifer in Åhus — at hospitality scale.
