Finlandia Vodka Lime (750 ml)
฿839
When Alko launched Finlandia in 1970, it commissioned sculptor Tapio Wirkkala to design the bottle — a deliberate signal that this was not a utility spirit but a designed object, and that purity was the brand's founding argument. That argument is structural: the base spirit is produced at Koskenkorva, Ilmajoki, in western Finland's barley-growing heartland, where six-row Finnish barley grown under up to 72 days of Midnight Sun — yielding high starch and clean fermentation — is mashed, fermented, and run through seven stainless-steel column stills operating at three different pressures across more than 200 individual distillation steps over approximately 50 hours, stripping methanol and fusel alcohols to exit at 96.5% ABV. The spirit then travels 315 km by rail to Rajamäki, where it is diluted with glacial spring water drawn from a 10,000-year-old Ice Age moraine aquifer — mechanically filtered only, with no deionisation, no reverse osmosis, no mineral removal. The company owns 12 km² of surrounding forest to protect the source. Critically, no charcoal filtration is applied at any stage; purity is achieved entirely through distillation architecture, not post-processing. This Lime expression layers natural lime character over that clean barley-and-glacial-water base, bottled at 40% ABV with no additives. The result is a flavoured vodka where the citrus note reads against a genuinely neutral, light-bodied canvas rather than a sweetened or filtered blank.
