Belvedere Vodka Citrus (700 ml)

When Belvedere launched in the US in 1996 — predating Grey Goose and Ketel One — it staked its identity on a single transgression: insisting that vodka has terroir. The Citrus expression extends that argument into flavored spirits, using cellulose-only filtration (no activated charcoal) specifically to preserve the essential oils that charcoal would strip away — a deliberate departure from the core Pure's charcoal-plus-cellulose sequence.

The base spirit is built on 100% Dankowskie Gold rye, sourced from contracted farms on the Masovian Plain, approximately 50 km southwest of Warsaw. Fermentation runs ~72 hours at 35°C with a proprietary distiller's yeast, reaching 6–8% ABV before first distillation on-farm. Rectification follows at the Polmos Żyrardów distillery (facility established 1910), with hydration using artesian well water drawn from two dedicated wells — 41.5 m and 50.5 m deep — filtered through 17 quaternary glacial terraces and processed to zero hardness at pH 7.4.

Under Polska Wódka certification, no sugar, glycerin, or artificial flavors are permitted — the citrus character derives entirely from natural essential oils retained by the cellulose-only filtration protocol. Bottled at 40% ABV. The rye base delivers its characteristic almond-and-white-pepper backbone beneath the citrus lift, distinguishing this from neutral-grain flavored vodkas.
