Absolut Elyx (750 ml)

When Lars Olsson Smith built his original distillery philosophy around a single source in 1879, the principle that every ingredient must trace to one community was radical at industrial scale. Absolut Elyx honours that founding logic by returning to the original 1906 distillery building in Åhus, Skåne — a deliberate separation from the main 1967 plant — where a vintage-designated batch of 100% Swedish winter wheat is processed through a single copper-packed column still rather than the multi-column continuous rectification used for the standard line.

Skåne's flat coastal plain, positioned between the Baltic Sea and fertile agricultural lowlands, yields wheat at roughly twice the global average per hectare. Water is drawn from on-site aquifer wells exceeding 140 metres deep, filtered through Swedish bedrock over millennia, contributing a mineral softness that demineralised process water cannot replicate.

The defining technical signature: no charcoal filtration, no chemical filtration, no sugar, no glycerin. Where most premium vodka producers strip cereal character through post-distillation filtration, Elyx relies entirely on the copper column's sulphur-catalysing action and careful rectification to achieve purity — bottled at 42.3% ABV, higher than the standard 40%, which amplifies the wheat's natural grain texture on the palate. This single-vintage, single-copper-still approach within a brand producing ~100 million litres annually is the category transgression: artisan-scale technique inside an industrial house.
