Gran Patrón Platinum was born from a deliberate constraint: where the flagship Silver blends tahona-stone and roller-mill distillates, Platinum strips the formula back to tahona-only production — the volcanic two-ton stone wheel that grinds cooked piña fiber and juice together, yielding a distillate dense with agave pulp character that roller milling cannot replicate. That decision alone separates this expression from virtually every other añejo at its price tier.

Hacienda Patrón sits at highland elevation in Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco (NOM 1492), a site chosen by founding Master Distiller Francisco Alcaraz for its contaminant-free water supply. Los Altos altitude produces Blue Weber Agave with measurably higher sugar content and a fruitier, more floral profile than lowland agave — the raw material advantage that underpins the house style.

Piñas are slow-baked for exactly 79 hours in small clay brick ovens, then crushed exclusively by tahona wheel. Fermentation runs a minimum of 72 hours in open pinewood tanks with proprietary yeast. Double distillation in small copper pot stills — Francisco Alcaraz's custom design, six tall narrow stills for the first pass, five shorter rounder stills for the second — preserves sulfur-free aromatic lift. The spirit is then triple-distilled for Platinum specifically, a third pass that clarifies texture without sacrificing the tahona's earthy agave density. Each bottle is hand-numbered, hand-corked, and hand-sealed across approximately 60 individual steps.

The triple distillation protocol is the category transgression: no other major highland añejo applies a third copper-pot pass to tahona distillate at this scale. The result is a crystalline, weightless texture carrying the full aromatic payload of stone-ground agave — cooked agave sweetness, white pepper, and highland citrus zest without the grain-forward softness of column-still production.
