The distillery operates in the sugarcane-rich lowlands near Lake Maracaibo, where a tropical climate with consistent heat accelerates angel's share and concentrates the spirit faster than temperate European cellars ever could.

Mantuano is built from a blend of column-still and batch kettle-still rums, aged up to 8 years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels. The column distillate provides structural lightness while the kettle-still component contributes body and aromatic density. Diplomatico uses Venezuela's own sugarcane honey (melaza) as the fermentation base — not molasses — which pushes the raw material toward a richer, less sharp character from the first cut.
