Negroni Set
฿฿
Campari was formulated in 1860 by Gaspare Campari in Novara, Lombardy, where the distillery still operates — a deliberate anchoring of production to the city where the recipe was first commercialised. The liqueur is built on a proprietary infusion of over 60 botanicals, with bitter orange peel and rhubarb root as the structural pillars, macerated in alcohol and water before blending to 25% ABV. The vivid crimson colour, once derived from carmine (crushed cochineal), has been produced using artificial colouring since 2006 — a formulation change the brand made openly. This Negroni Set pairs the 700 ml Campari bottle with the components needed to assemble the equal-parts cocktail — gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari — that Florentine Count Camillo Negroni reportedly demanded in 1919 as a stronger riff on the Americano. What distinguishes this expression within the category is the gift-set format: the liqueur itself is the standard commercial bottling, but the curated presentation makes the Negroni ratio and ritual explicit, removing the guesswork for the end consumer. Campari's bitterness is persistent and dry-finishing, with the sweetness calibrated to balance rather than dominate.
