Hiram Walker Blue Curacao (750 ml)
฿659
Hiram Walker, founded in 1858 in Detroit and later relocated to Windsor, Ontario, built its reputation on accessible, consistent cordials and liqueurs sold across North America. Blue Curaçao is the brand's take on the triple sec family: a neutral grain spirit base flavored with dried bitter orange peel — historically sourced from the laraha orange native to the island of Curaçao — sweetened with sugar syrup and dyed a vivid cobalt blue with food coloring.
Unlike premium Curaçao expressions that use pot-still distillation of fresh peel, Hiram Walker's version is produced for consistent sweetness and color stability, prioritizing bartender reliability over artisanal complexity. The blue hue is purely cosmetic: it turns cocktails green, purple, or teal depending on the mixer, making it a visual tool as much as a flavoring agent.
At a standard lower ABV typical of the category (around 24%), it delivers straightforward candied orange and light citrus zest character without the dryness of higher-end triple secs. The special feature here is purely functional: the color transforms the visual identity of any cocktail it enters, a trick no clear orange liqueur can replicate.
