Tenuta San Guido
Grappa di Sassicaia (Single-Vintage) (Barrel Aged) (500 ml)
฿4,700
Tenuta San Guido's Grappa di Sassicaia is distilled from the pomace of the same Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc skins pressed at the Bolgheri Sassicaia estate — the only single-estate DOC in Italy — making this among the few grappas in existence whose raw material carries a legally defined, geographically unique provenance. The source vineyards sit across calcareous marl, stones and pebbles (sasso, the root of the estate's name), alberese, and old alluvial deposits at 100–300 m a.s.l., with west-facing exposure to Tyrrhenian sea breezes that preserve aromatic intensity in the harvested fruit — and, by extension, in the marc itself. The distillate is subsequently aged in barrel, a deliberate step that separates this expression from unaged grappa and introduces the same French oak influence — Tronçais, Allier, Jupilles — that defines the flagship wine's structure. The result carries the cedar, graphite, and Mediterranean garrigue character intrinsic to the Sassicaia house style rather than the neutral grain-spirit profile of industrial grappa. What is genuinely unusual: no other Italian estate with its own DOC appellation produces a barrel-aged grappa from the same single-vineyard marc, making this a direct aromatic extension of one of Italy's most geographically specific wine identities. As a non-vintage release, it draws from multiple harvests, delivering consistency over vintage variation.
