Boatyard Distillery sits in County Leitrim, Ireland's inland waterway country, where the River Shannon system shapes the local terroir. The distillery sources sloe berries—wild Prunus spinosa—foraged from Irish hedgerows and macerated into a gin base distilled from grain spirit.

The production method steeps sloe fruit into the finished gin rather than infusing during distillation, a technique that preserves the bright, tart character of the berry while allowing juniper and supporting botanicals to remain legible. The result is bottled at 28% ABV, positioning it as a liqueur-strength gin rather than a full-proof spirit—a deliberate choice that softens the alcohol burn and lets stone-fruit acidity dominate the palate.
