Brewdog Hop Fiction 330ml x 24
฿5,179
When James Watt and Martin Dickie founded BrewDog in Fraserburgh in 2007, their explicit provocation was to dismantle the conventions of the British ale market — and they backed that claim by open-sourcing their entire recipe catalogue in the 'DIY Dog' release, a transparency move unprecedented at scale among craft producers. Hop Fiction is brewed at the Ellon, Aberdeenshire facility on Balmacassie Commercial Park, a £7.8 million, 5.5-acre brewhouse opened in 2013 and expanded in 2016 with a 300-hectolitre brewhouse. Water drawn from local Aberdeenshire supply feeds an all-grain mash held at approximately 65°C, building a clean, lightly sweet backbone from a pale malt base. The hop programme follows BrewDog's house doctrine of American and Southern Hemisphere varieties — Chinook, Simcoe, Amarillo, Cascade, and Nelson Sauvin among the arsenal — with a post-fermentation dry-hop charge at approximately 14°C for 5 days to lock in volatile aromatic compounds before they can be driven off by heat. What separates Hop Fiction within the BrewDog lineup is its positioning as a hop-showcase vehicle rather than a high-ABV statement: the focus is aromatic density at a sessionable register, filtered and carbonated for consistency. The result is a beer that foregrounds tropical and resinous hop character without the structural weight of a double IPA.
