Vecchia Romagna Etichetta Nera Brandy (700 ml)
฿1,289
Vecchia Romagna has produced brandy in Emilia-Romagna since 1820, and the Etichetta Nera (Black Label) remains the expression that established Italian brandy as a category distinct from French cognac — built on local Trebbiano grapes rather than imported wine stocks. The flat, fertile Po Valley floor supplies high-yield Trebbiano with naturally elevated acidity, which survives distillation and gives the spirit its structural backbone. Double distillation in traditional pot stills concentrates aromatic compounds, and the resulting eau-de-vie is aged in Slavonian oak casks — larger-format vessels that impart slower, gentler wood integration than the small French barriques used in Cognac, preserving more fruit character. Bottled at 38% ABV without chill filtration, the Etichetta Nera retains natural esters that would otherwise precipitate out. What separates this expression from the entry-level Etichetta Oro is a longer oak maturation period, producing deeper amber color and more pronounced dried-fruit and spice complexity. Ready to drink now; the spirit's oak integration is already complete and will not meaningfully evolve further in bottle.
