Elena Walch Pinot Bianco Alto Adige D.O.C.
฿฿
Elena Walch's Pinot Bianco originates from the steep, south-facing vineyards of Alto Adige/Südtirol, where the Dolomite foothills create one of Europe's most extreme cool-climate zones. The region's limestone-rich soils and 600–800m elevation force the Pinot Bianco grape into a prolonged ripening cycle, concentrating acidity and mineral tension rather than fruit weight.
The wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, preserving the aromatic volatility and crisp structure that define Alto Adige's signature style. No oak aging allows the terroir's flinty, saline character to dominate. The result is a wine built on high natural acidity and lean body—a deliberate rejection of the riper, softer Pinot Biancos produced in warmer regions.
Elena Walch, a family estate since 1953, has become synonymous with this uncompromising Alpine aesthetic: wines that taste of stone and altitude rather than fruit ripeness. This expression drinks best within 2–4 years of vintage, while its mineral core remains sharp.
