Arabella Pinotage
฿659
Arabella is a family-owned venture established on land in the Robertson region of South Africa that has been in the De Wet family since the 1860s. The name Arabella was chosen as a wordplay on the beautiful Arabian horses that graze on the estate's verdant pastures. Officially founded as a commercial project in 2005 by Stephen de Wet and his son Jamie, the winery quickly gained international recognition, with their first vintage in 2006 followed by a double gold medal for their 2007 Shiraz. Today, it remains a complete family business, with every member passionately involved in crafting wines that provide exceptional quality and a special experience for every customer.
The estate's unique terroir is defined by the Robertson Valley’s ancient geological history, featuring deep, calcium-rich soils formed from the silt of a prehistoric inland lake. These limestone-rich soils are essential for producing grapes with natural acidity and structured elegance. Arabella’s winemaking philosophy is rooted in the belief that great wine is made in the vineyard, necessitating meticulous manual harvesting to prevent premature oxidation and maintain fruit purity. In the cellar, this minimal-intervention approach continues with gentle pressing and aging in French oak for 5 to 10 months, resulting in a Pinotage that reflects the authentic character of the land with soft tannins and succulent fruit profiles.
