−18%Giuseppe Ponte established the family's Frazione Gorzano cellar in 1968, and three generations later the estate remains one of the few independent Piedmontese houses covering the full arc of the region's indigenous varieties — from Barolo to Brachetto — under a single family roof. The Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC draws on chalky soils in the corridor between Asti and Alba, a terrain that tempers Nebbiolo's structural aggression and pushes the variety toward red-fruit clarity rather than brooding tannin mass. Fermentation runs 10–15 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel at 26–28°C with skin maceration, a house-wide protocol that prioritises varietal transparency over extraction. The estate's deliberate rejection of small barriques — a stance codified across their red range — means this Nebbiolo avoids the vanilla overlay that can obscure the grape's characteristic tar-and-rose signature at this price tier. What makes this expression unusual is its DOC status: Nebbiolo d'Alba permits fruit from the Roero and the Langhe hills without the strict single-commune rules of Barolo or Barbaresco, giving the winemaking team flexibility to select for freshness over power. Drink now through 3–4 years for maximum fruit definition; the chalky subsoil lends enough grip to reward short cellaring.
