Mitsuko's Vineyard sits in the heart of Carneros, the fog-swept subregion straddling Napa and Sonoma counties where Pacific marine layer moderates ripening and preserves acidity in Pinot Noir. The vineyard's east-facing aspect and shallow clay-loam soils—typical of Carneros' marine sedimentary geology—encourage slow, even phenolic maturation. Clos Pegase's winemaking emphasizes the site's natural elegance: cool fermentation in temperature-controlled vessels and restrained oak aging allow the vineyard's red-fruit character and mineral spine to remain prominent rather than masked by wood influence.
