Eremo San Quirico Irpinia Campi Taurasini D.O.C.
฿฿
Nativ was founded to express Campania's indigenous varieties without international concessions — no Cabernet blending, no new-oak gloss. The Eremo San Quirico bottling draws fruit from the Irpinia hills surrounding the Taurasi zone, where volcanic basalt and clay soils at elevations between 400–600 metres force Aglianico's roots deep, concentrating extract while the cool diurnal swings of the Apennine foothills preserve the grape's characteristically fierce acidity and firm tannin structure. The Campi Taurasini DOC designation — a step below Taurasi DOCG — allows earlier release while sharing the same volcanic terroir and the same grape. Vinification follows a traditional extended maceration on Aglianico skins to extract the variety's dense polyphenols, followed by aging in oak to soften the variety's notoriously grippy tannins without erasing them. What distinguishes this expression is its positioning: full Taurasi-zone Aglianico character — tar, iron, dried dark fruit — at a fraction of the DOCG price, making the volcanic south accessible without compromise on variety typicity. Drink now with decanting, or cellar 3–6 years for further tannin integration.
