Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Shiraz Limited Relese Lunar New Year Snake Edition
฿27,888
When Max Schubert returned from Bordeaux in 1950 and began completing fermentation inside new American oak hogsheads — a technique borrowed from the Médoc but applied to Barossa Shiraz — he broke every rule of Australian winemaking. That single decision became the structural DNA of Grange, now a Heritage Icon of South Australia and the only New World wine to receive simultaneous 100-point scores from both Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate. The 2020 vintage draws fruit primarily from the Barossa Valley (typically 77–82% of the blend), where ancient, phylloxera-free deep alluvial and sandy loam soils at Kalimna yield low-vigour vines of extraordinary concentration, supplemented by parcels from McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, and potentially Magill Estate — Penfolds' original 1844 urban site at the foot of the Mount Lofty Ranges. The blend runs ~93–98% Shiraz with 2–7% Cabernet Sauvignon, assembled across districts to prioritise house consistency over single-terroir expression. Fermentation proceeds in small open-top stainless steel tanks before being completed in barrel; 100% new American oak hogsheads for 18–20 months deliver the signature mid-palate density and structural scaffolding for multi-decade cellaring. This Lunar New Year Snake Edition presents the identical wine in commemorative packaging — Grange's content is never altered for special releases. Drinking window: 2030–2055+.
