Chateau La Croix Montlabert St. Emilion Grand Cru

PRODUCER: Château Montlabert lies on the Route de Libourne, and shares the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation with a number of its prestigious neighbours: Cheval Blanc, Clos des Jacobins and Château Figeac are just a stone’s throw away.

They share not just physical proximity, but also the same exacting standards, and of course the same drive towards excellence.

WINEMAKING: With soil types of glacis of sand, Clay and silt on reshaped molasses. Harvesting is done by machine and the wine is fermented in cement and stainless steel vats. Ageing takes place in 20% new barrels, 50% old barrels and 30% vats.

TASTING NOTES: This is so different to its big brother Château Montlabert – much less austere and more feminine. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, it has fine spice notes as well as gentle black fruit. So elegant and full of finesse – a real find.
