Limited Release Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon

Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon was first released in 1996 from the 1991 vintage - to celebrate the centenary of the first vintage in Katnook's woolshed. Odyssey defines quintessential Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, produced from the region's distinctive terra rossa soils and crafted with the luxury of great attention to detail.

The wine has won Best Australian Red and the Frescobaldi Trophy for Best Vintage Red Wine, awarded twice, at the 2003 UK International Wine & Spirit Competition for the 1998 Odyssey.  Odyssey also boasts gold medals for both the 2000 and 2001 vintages in the Decanter World Wine Awards for 2005 and 2006 and classified for the 'Outstanding' category in the prestigious Langton's Classification V 2010.

The concentrated and powerful Odyssey is selected from the most outstanding parcels of intense Cabernet fruit, from specific vineyard rows planted on rich clay terra rossa loams over a thick hard layer of limestone. After vinification in small batch fermenters, maturation takes place over approximately 36 to 40 months in a combination of new French and new American barriques. Some parcels are “double oaked” to increase flavour complexity.
