Graham’s Blend No 5 White Port Meio Seco
฿฿
Graham's Blend No. 5 represents the house's interpretation of white port in the meio seco (medium-dry) category—a category that demands precision in residual sugar calibration and oxidative aging control. The wine originates from the Douro Valley, where Graham's sources from established vineyard parcels across the demarcated region, benefiting from the schist-based soils and the thermal amplitude between the river valley floor and surrounding slopes.
The production follows traditional white port methodology: base wines are fortified with neutral grape spirit post-fermentation, then aged in seasoned wooden vessels (not new oak) for an undisclosed period that allows gradual oxidation and color development without aggressive wood extraction. The meio seco classification positions residual sugar in the 30–50 g/L range—enough to register as perceptible sweetness, yet restrained enough to preserve acidity and prevent cloying character.
Graham's Blend No. 5 distinguishes itself through consistent house style rather than single-vintage declaration; the blend format allows the producer to maintain a house signature across vintages. The result carries the characteristic amber-gold hue of aged white port, with the oxidative maturity typical of the category.
Drink now through 2030. Serve chilled (8–10°C) as an aperitif or with lighter desserts.
