Glenfiddich Grand Couronne 26 Years Old (700 ml)
฿33,749
When William Grant's family built Glenfiddich in 1886 using second-hand equipment and their own hands, the ambition was Speyside whisky on Speyside terms. The Grand Couronne is where that ambition turns outward: after a minimum 26 years maturing in the Conval Hills dunnage warehouses — earthen floors, stone walls, stable humidity drawn from the Robbie Dhu Spring catchment — the spirit undergoes a 2-year finish in French ex-cognac casks, the longest finishing period in Glenfiddich's standard age-statement lineup and the only expression to use cognac wood as its final vessel.
The distillery's small swan-neck pot stills (spirit stills running approximately 4,500 L) produce a characteristically light, high-ester new make; two-and-a-half decades in predominantly ex-bourbon American white oak builds orchard fruit and vanilla without the weight of heavier sherry-forward Speysides. The cognac-cask finish then introduces Limousin or Tronçais oak tannins — dried stone fruit, beeswax, faint floral lift — layered over that lean, pear-driven base rather than replacing it. As with every Glenfiddich expression, a mandatory vatting/marrying step precedes bottling, integrating cask variation into a single coherent profile. No other distillery in the core Speyside category applies a two-year cognac finish at this age point, making the Grand Couronne a structurally distinct outlier in its peer group.
