John Glaser founded Compass Box in 2000 with a winemaker's instinct applied to Scotch blending — and Nectarosity sits squarely in that grain-forward tradition, drawing on the same Cameronbridge-anchored philosophy that produced Hedonism, the world's first commercial blended grain Scotch whisky. Compass Box holds no distillery of its own; instead, it selects specific cask parcels from across Scotland and re-matures them in custom-commissioned casks fitted with heavily toasted French oak heads, a technique that layers vanilla, coconut, and pastry-like sweetness onto the naturally silky texture of column-still grain spirit. The grain whiskies at the core of this expression mature primarily in first-fill ex-bourbon American oak hogsheads, which preserve the delicate, high-ester character of Cameronbridge before the French oak influence adds structural depth. Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill-filtered, and without added colouring — a deliberate rejection of mass-market blending norms — the whisky retains a viscosity and natural hue that most commercial grain blends sacrifice for shelf consistency.
