Ardbeg Uigeadail (700 ml)
฿4,659
Uigeadail (pronounced Oog-a-dal) takes its name from the dark, peaty loch that supplies Ardbeg's process water on the southern shore of Islay — a detail that is not merely poetic, since the high-peat water contributes to the distillery's famously phenolic spirit character. Ardbeg sits on Islay's exposed southern coastline, where Atlantic salt winds and the island's deep peat bogs define the raw materials: barley malted to phenol levels typically cited among the highest on the island, producing a spirit with aggressive medicinal and tarry smoke.
Uigeadail is a vatting of different aged Ardbeg expressions, finished and married in ex-Oloroso sherry casks — a deliberate counterweight to the distillery's signature peat. The result is bottled at cask strength (54.2% ABV) with no chill-filtration and no added colour, preserving the full texture of the sherry-soaked spirit. The sherry wood introduces dried fruit and cocoa density that few heavily-peated Islays attempt at this intensity.
What sets Uigeadail apart within the NAS (no age statement) category is the sheer amplitude: cask-strength delivery amplifies both the phenolic smoke and the Oloroso sweetness simultaneously, rather than softening either. A drop of water opens the dried-fruit layers without collapsing the peat.
