Johnnie Walker Gold Label XR 21 (750 ml)
฿5,799
John Walker's founding insight in 1820 Kilmarnock was borrowed directly from the tea trade: blend across origins and seasons to eliminate batch variation — a logic that, applied to whisky, produced the modern concept of consistent branded Scotch. The XR 21 is where that philosophy meets serious age: every component whisky in the blend carries a minimum of 21 years in oak, drawing from Diageo's reserve of approximately 10 million casks across Speyside, Highland, Islay, and Lowland Scotland. No single terroir dominates — Cardhu (Speyside) supplies honeyed, orchard-fruit sweetness as the structural heart; Caol Ila (Islay) threads clean maritime peat smoke through the mid-palate; Clynelish (Highland) contributes its signature waxy, coastal depth. Maturation proceeds in a combination of ex-bourbon American oak barrels and ex-Sherry European oak casks, the interplay of vanilla-and-coconut from the former and dried-fruit richness from the latter amplified by two decades of slow integration. The XR 21 is bottled at 40% ABV and chill-filtered to maintain clarity at serving temperature. What separates this expression within the Johnnie Walker tier is the age floor itself: at 21 years minimum across every component, it occupies a category where most blended Scotch houses offer only single-malt equivalents, making extended-aged blended Scotch at this depth genuinely rare in the category.
