Old Malt Cask Inchgower 18 Years (700 ml)
฿8,019
When the Laing family divided assets in 2013, Stewart Laing took the Old Malt Cask range to Hunter Laing & Co. and preserved its founding discipline intact: every release a single cask, every bottle non-chill-filtered, zero caramel colouring, and a house-standard 50% ABV — a deliberate departure from the cask-strength defaults of peers like Cadenhead's or Signatory. Inchgower distillery sits at the mouth of the River Spey near Buckie on the Moray coast, where maritime air moderates the maturation environment and imprints a saline coastal edge onto the typically orchard-fruited Speyside profile. This 18-year expression draws from a single named cask — cask type, distillation year, and cask number printed on the label — matured without secondary finishing, allowing the original wood and the distillery's own character to develop without intervention. The 50% ABV standard is not a compromise: Hunter Laing's monthly tasting panel selects only casks that carry sufficient density at that dilution, ensuring the coastal-Speyside tension between dried fruit, wax, and brine reads clearly without the heat that raw cask strength can impose. What makes this expression categorically unusual is its finitude: once this single cask is exhausted, the combination of distillery, fill date, and wood cannot be reproduced. The cask number on the label is the only true identifier.
