Plantation Trinidad 2016 "Single Cask" 2023 Rum (700 ml)
฿4,259
Plantation's Single Cask series isolates what the double-ageing method does to a single barrel rather than a blend — a deliberate act of transparency from Alexandre Gabriel's Maison Ferrand, which also openly discloses its Cognac-style dosage practice in an industry that rarely does. This Trinidad distillate originates from continuous column still distillation, the island's signature technique, producing a cleaner, more precise spirit than the pot-still marks Plantation sources from Barbados and Jamaica. Stage one tropical ageing in ex-bourbon American oak ran from distillation in 2016 under Trinidad's equatorial heat, where the angel's share accelerates concentration at roughly 6–7% per year. The cask then travelled to Château de Bonbonnet, Ars, Charentes, France, for continental finishing in ex-Ferrand French oak Cognac barrels — the cooler cellar slowing extraction and layering dried-fruit and baking-spice structure onto the tropical base before bottling in 2023 at natural cask strength, non-chill-filtered. What distinguishes this expression within the Plantation portfolio is its single-cask isolation of Trinidad's column-still character — a terroir profile that disappears entirely in the brand's blended expressions where it plays a supporting, structural role. The seven-year dual-climate maturation window suggests the rum is drinking at full development now, with no need to hold.
