Rivo Gin is produced on the western shore of Lake Como in Lombardy, where the lake's thermal mass moderates alpine temperatures and creates a microclimate mild enough to grow citrus, laurel, and aromatic herbs that feed directly into the botanical bill. The name references the Italian word for riverbank, anchoring the spirit's identity to this specific lacustrine geography rather than a generic Mediterranean fantasy.
The gin is built on a base of neutral grain spirit redistilled with a selection of Mediterranean botanicals — juniper from the Apennines, Italian lemon and orange peel, and locally sourced herbs — through a pot-still maceration-and-distillation process designed to preserve volatile citrus oils that column distillation would strip. Bottled at 40% ABV in a 500 ml format, it is presented without artificial colouring.
What separates Rivo from the crowded Italian gin field is its deliberate geographic constraint: rather than sourcing exotic botanicals globally, the recipe prioritises ingredients either grown on or immediately around Lake Como, making provenance — not novelty — the organising principle of the blend.
