Sourced across the top four crus — Grande Champagne's shallow clay-limestone chalk (which drives the long, slow oxidative aging that builds complexity), Petite Champagne, the clay-flint of Borderies, and Fins Bois — each cru contributes a distinct structural layer to the final blend. Distillation follows Hennessy's house signature: double pass in Charentais copper pot stills, conducted both on and off lees, with heads and tails reintroduced to the brouillis before the second distillation — a deliberate congener-loading decision that sets Hennessy apart from Martell's lees-free approach and produces the house's characteristic depth of dark fruit and spice. Aging proceeds in Limousin oak from Hennessy's own forests, in cellars along the humid Charente riverbank where ambient moisture mellows the spirit over decades. The Paradis blend draws from over 100 exceptional eaux-de-vie, positioning it above XO (100+ reserves, up to ~30 years) but below Richard Hennessy (40+ years minimum) — an intermediate tier of extraordinary rarity with no fixed age statement, defined entirely by qualitative selection rather than a minimum aging floor.
