Vuelta Abajo, Pinar del Río, is Cuba's premier growing zone: red clay (colorado) soil moderated by Atlantic ocean breezes produces leaf of concentrated mineral complexity and natural sweetness that defines the Montecristo house profile — cedar, earth, and cocoa sitting between the peppery intensity of Bolívar and the lighter register of Hoyo de Monterrey.

Unlike the core handmade line — rolled Totalmente a Mano by torcedores using entubado or accordion-fold technique — the Puritos are machine-made, a deliberate format choice that trades the nuance of long-filler construction for accessibility and price efficiency.
